Annual patrons – Sunday 10 August
- Cathedral Cemetery – after 10am Mass
- St Mary’s & Enniscorthy Cemetery – 3pm
The annual Patron is in two weeks time (10th August). We thank you for showing respect in our Cemeteries. They are sacred places where our loved ones are buried and it is our duty to care for their resting places, in a manner that reflects the dignity of the human person and our belief. We are asked to respect these resting places and the graves and property of other people who visit the cemetery.
You are encouraged to tend to family graves in advance of the Patron. Please continue to support the Cemetery Committee, FAS workers and voluntary workers by keeping the cemetery tidy. The committee appeals to everyone to co-operate by using the bins provided. Please bring home all your rubbish if possible.
You are requested;
- Not to put stones or heavy objects into the bins.
- Not to put glass of any kind into the bins.
- Please take these objects home with you or place them neatly beside the bins so as to assist the voluntary workers when emptying the bins. Your co-operation in this regard would greatly help these dedicated people in keeping our cemetery in the beautiful condition to which we have become accustomed.
Safety–Monumental workers: As a matter of safety it is necessary that all works to be conducted by monumental works companies i.e. erection of headstones, kerbing, cleaning and sand blasting be completed by Sunday 1st August. No monumental workers or their vehicles should be in the cemetery after that date. This gives all people a chance to visit graves without obstruction. Your co-operation in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Parking: there will be no parking passes given out this year. No parking will be allowed in St. Mary’s Cemetery at any time on Sunday 10th August. Parking spaces are limited and every effort will be made to facilitate the disabled and elderly. The field carpark will close at 4.30pm. Please co-operate with the Gardai and parking attendants on the day.
Collection: Please support the gate collection on the day. This collection helps the committee greatly with running costs including insurance, bin collections, garden machinery and its maintenance, petrol for mowers, toilet maintenance, sound system and Patron expenses, etc.
Dogs: The ongoing problem of dogs fouling in the Cemetery must stop. Please keep all dogs on leads at all times & you must clean up after them.
Remember this is sacred space and it must be respected.
